🎉 Congratulations to Mrs. Amanda on receiving the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce Support Staff of the Month Award! 🩵🖤 We are so thankful for everything you do for our students and staff! Your hard work and dedication make such a difference at SGS. We appreciate you!

Being optimistic isn’t about ignoring the difficulties around us. It’s about facing them with hope, courage and a belief that our actions matter. Encourage your student to be more optimistic with these ideas for the month of October.

Come to the Middle School on October 16 at 6:00pm for out Meet The Teams Night! We will be recognizing our Athletes from Cross Country, Baseball, Softball, Cheerleading, and Boys and Girls Basketball. That will be followed by a short scrimmage from our Boys and Girls Basketball team and a Cheerleading performance. Door admission will be by donation only. All proceeds from admission will be donated to our Spring Garden Downard family to help with medical bills for Heaven. Also, our 8th grade class will be selling concessions

Monster Mash is coming up on Saturday, October 24th, and we’re excited to continue our tradition of the Monster Mash basket raffle for each class!

Each class is invited to create a basket based on the theme assigned to their grade. Students love seeing all of the baskets their classes put together!

Kindergarten: Fall/Halloween

1st: Making S’mores Memories / Camping

2nd: Arts & Crafts

3rd: Family Fun Night (Movies/Games)

4th: Take It Outside! (Outdoor Games/Activities)

5th: Girls’ Day Out (Spa Day/Pampering)

6th: Grillin’ & Chillin’ (Grill Theme)

7th: Running on Caffeine (Coffee/Tea)

8th: Just Add Ice Cream (Ice Cream/Dessert)

Donations are due by Friday, October 9th.

Fun Incentive: The basket that earns the most money/tickets at Monster Mash will win a donut party for its grade!

Our 5th and 6th grade classes had a great time at the Amazing Career Race at Rend Lake College yesterday! We’re so proud of our students! One of our teams placed 3rd, and another team built the strongest raft! 🏆👏 Way to go, Hawks! 🩵🖤

What a special day in Kindergarten! Our kindergarten students had the opportunity to meet author Melanie Downen, author of Little Taps for Big Feelings! She shared her story with us, answered questions, and helped our little learners understand how tapping can be a simple tool to help calm our bodies, work through big emotions, and remind ourselves that our feelings are okay. Thanks to the generosity of some amazing donors, every kindergarten student received their very own signed copy of Little Taps for Big Feelings to take home! We also had a special surprise for Melanie! Our class created a book for her filled with ideas about what we can do when we have big emotions. Each student contributed their own page, making it a sweet keepsake to remember our time together. We are so thankful for experiences like this that encourage a love of reading while also giving our students meaningful tools for understanding and managing their emotions. Thank you, Melanie, for spending time with our kindergarteners, and thank you to everyone who helped make this special day possible!

Our Spring Garden Family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of the schools, businesses, organizations, and community members who have shown their support, kindness, and generosity to our student and her family during this very difficult time. Your compassion and willingness to help have meant so much to our school family, and we are truly grateful for the incredible support of our community.

Congrats to the 7th grade class at the Middle School and the 4th grade class at the Elementary School for winning the pizza party. Each class was the top fundraiser for the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.

Love's Travel Stop in Ina challenged our students to a coin fundraiser. The picture shows families in our area that have been impacted by CMNH. We're happy to support such a great cause!

The Elks Chicken Dinner was a success! 🩵🖤 A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out and supported our 8th grade class! We truly appreciate everyone who bought tickets, enjoyed a chicken dinner, volunteered, or helped spread the word. Your support means so much to our students and helps make these opportunities possible for them. Thank you for supporting our 8th graders!

Middle School students do receive daily points for PE. We have attached the scoring rubric & scoring guide so that families are aware of the expectations. Both documents were explained to all 5-8 grade students at the beginning of this school year.

Please help us by making sure your student has NON MARKING shoes (no Crocs, slides or sandals) & clothing that covers the body while exercising & participating in PE activities.

Mrs. Piercy’s kindergarten class continued learning about the letter Mm by reading If You Give a Moose a Muffin and practicing sequencing. Yesterday, they made sequencing hats and baked delicious chocolate chip and blueberry muffins together!

Mrs. Reiter’s 3rd graders worked together to build the longest bridge that could hold weight! They’ve been completing STEM activities to build teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills. Great job, 3rd grade!
