The middle school has lots of unclaimed items in the lost and found! Please remind your child to check and see if any items are theirs.

Our Spring Concert will be on Tuesday, May 6, at 6:00pm at the Elementary School for grades K-4 and the Middle School Band. Please save the date!

Tomorrow, Friday, April 11, we will be meeting in House Groups at the Elementary School so everyone will be dismissed from the Elementary School beginning with car riders at 1:45. We will only be running two bus routes tomorrow as well. Susan and Brad will be driving Holly's route so there will be delays getting students to school and home from school. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Tomorrow is also Spring Pictures and Sports Pictures so please make sure to send your child with their uniform(s).

Friday is spring pictures at both the elementary and middle schools. Also the middle school will have spring sports pictures and elementary pee wee pictures so please remind your students to bring their uniforms!

Ms. Abbie had lots of March Madness fun with the students! They drew teams from the bracket, designed jerseys, and filled out their own brackets. Brystal won the drawing, Afton had the best designed jersey, and Asher had the best bracket! Congratulations to the winners!

Today Mrs. Piercys class read Sheep in a Jeep in Mrs. Piercy’s Jeep. They made a list of “ee” words and got to practice reading words with “ee.” They read the “ee” words on sheep (white balloons) and got to toss them into the Jeep. If they read the word correctly, the jeep’s horn would go beep beep!

On Friday, Kindergarten read Kindness is a Kite String. It’s a story about the power of kindness and empathy. They got to make and decorate their own kites!🪁

March was a very busy and fun month for Mrs. Harper's 1st Graders! They learned about 2D and partnered up in a STEM activity to build 3D shapes. They got a visit from a leprechaun, who somehow managed to avoid getting caught in their family project leprechaun traps. First graders love science, especially when you get to do a rainbow experiment 🌈

Our Spring Garden 1st Graders got to thank Mr. Leon Adams and Adams Farms for sponsoring them with Ag in the Classroom. He brought some cool pictures of their farm and seeds of various crops. The kids have really enjoyed monthly lessons and fun activities!

If you noticed any little doctors at the elementary building today it was probably Mrs. Thomson's 2nd graders! They enjoyed different medical themed learning activities!

This week Ms. Gibson's classes incorporated art with math. It was fun to see the optical illusions they created!

Beginning April 4, the elementary building will be opening the concession stand on Friday afternoons for students. Candy will be sold at $2 each and soda will be sold at a $1 each. All proceeds will go towards field trips.

Don't forget to order your 2024-25 yearbook!

The 8th grade will be having a bake sale fundraiser tomorrow at the middle school for students 5-8. Students can purchase items during their lunch.

For those who sold Butter Braid items, the orders will be in today and they must be picked up between 2:00 - 6:00pm in the elementary cafeteria.

🩵🖤Thankful for our Paraprofessionals!! We appreciate all that you do!!🩵🖤

Due to the predicted severe weather for this afternoon, we will be dismissing early at 2:00pm. just like we do on Fridays. Elementary School car riders will start dismissing at 1:45, buses will leave the ES at 2:00, and Middle School car riders will start dismissing at 1:55. There will be no evening activities, so no Good News Club.

Congratulations to McKinley Kniffen (1st place), Violet Cates (2nd place), and Jaxson Warren (3rd place)! They wrote essays on patriotism through a contest from the Mt. Vernon Elks.
McKinley’s essay was sent onto the Southern Central District level and she won at that level. Her essay has now gone onto the state level and she is waiting to hear how she places in that.
We are so proud of these three students! Way to go!

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. To show our support, the Regional Office of Education, has asked area schools to have the students and staff wear blue on Friday, April 4. Let's show our support Hawk family!
